RE: 2006-07 School Improvement Recognition Banners
As it is done every year, district schools that have improved student achievement will be recognized with the Superintendent’s Academic Award for School Improvement (2006-2007). This year the schools will be recognized at the January 15, 2008 School Board meeting. We wanted to alert you to this change because in the past recognition of schools have taken place during the district-wide administrators’ meetings. Please also be advised that this is the first year that school selections have been based on the SPPS Accountability Indicators identified in the Strategic Plan for Continued Excellence including an analysis of MCA-II results and growth.
Principals of schools receiving recognition banners will be notified shortly after we return from winter break. However, be advised that if your school is on the list for recognition you and a school team representative, (site council chair(s), other staff) will be asked to attend the
January 15, 2008 Board meeting. You will receive the message from your Executive Director in early January. All principles, however, are encouraged to attend to support their colleagues at the board meeting.
