RE:      LLC Response to Intervention Implementation

            Support Visits

Beginning in November 2009 (please refer to attached list of visit dates), a Professional Development Associate (PDA) from the Leadership and Learning Center (LLC) will visit your campus to observe and discuss how you are currently implementing Response to Intervention (RTI).  The PDA team members are Mike White, Lynn Howard, Mary Jane O’Connell, and Brandon Doubek; the team leader is Linda Gregg.  Their primary focus will be Tier One, general classroom instruction for all students, intervention processes, and procedures for monitoring progress. There are two all-day visits scheduled per campus.

The PDA will ask to meet with you and, if possible, your leadership team to discuss your current implementation of RTI.  The selection of which classrooms to visit during the day will be at the discretion of the administrator.  Frequently, it is helpful to see as many classes as possible.  The classes visited might include a targeted grade level; specific teachers; or key programs, such as acceleration time, specific reading or math programs.  Typically, each school is at a different level of implementation for RTI, so it is not necessary to change your current model of instruction for the PDA’s visit; simply share what you are doing.  The intent of the PDA is to support your implementation efforts to increase student achievement.

A Professional Development Associate from LLC will contact you soon (either by phone or e-mail) to discuss your schedule, and will be happy to answer any questions that you may have regarding the RTI Support visit.
